Tips

  • Mark the main entrance where the main door is; it matters most.
  • Mark every toilet separately.
  • Sheet has more than one floor? Drag the dashed box around the ground floor plan only, and check each floor on its own.
  • Grid lines on the plan show the 8 directions and the centre (Brahmasthan).
  • Unsure of North? A wrong North changes every result, so check it on site.

Questions about the Vastu checker

How does the Vastu checker work?

Upload a PDF, photo or screenshot of your floor plan, set where North is, and mark each room by tapping it on the plan (or let Auto-detect read the room names). Balaji VastuMate places your plot on the traditional Vastu grid of eight directions and the centre, checks every room against the commonly followed Vastu placement rules, and gives a score out of 100 with remedies.

Is my floor plan uploaded or stored?

No. Your plan stays in your browser. It is sent to be read only if you tap Auto-detect, and it is not stored on our servers.

Which is the best direction for the main door as per Vastu?

North, North-East and East entrances are the most favoured. West and North-West are good. South-East and South are acceptable with care, and a South-West main door is traditionally avoided.

Where should the kitchen be as per Vastu?

The South-East (the fire zone, Agni) is ideal, with North-West as the accepted second choice. A kitchen in the North-East, North or South-West is traditionally avoided. Cooking while facing East is recommended.

Where should toilets be placed as per Vastu?

North-West and West are best, with South also good. Toilets in the North-East, the South-West or the centre of the house are the most commonly flagged Vastu defects.

What is the Brahmasthan?

The Brahmasthan is the centre of the house, the middle square of the Vastu grid. It should be kept open, light and free of toilets, staircases, kitchens and heavy structures.

My plan scores low. Do I need to rebuild?

Not necessarily. The report lists traditional remedies that need no construction for each point. For a new house, the best time to fix Vastu is at the drawing stage: our engineers can draw a Vastu-compliant floor plan for you.

Is Vastu a substitute for structural design?

No. Vastu Shastra is traditional guidance. Structural safety, building approvals and codes always come first; consult a qualified engineer before changing any structure.
